Cherryvale Organic Farm
Driving down County Road 10, it's not uncommon to see cars parked at the side of the road marvelling at the buildings, lanscaping, and the full story

History

In 1858, the farm began when John and Samuel Moore moved to the County from Ireland. They purchased 75 acres of land initially and, in 1950, they purchased the remainder of the property. These two purchases formed the land now known as Cherryvale Organic Farm.

The Moore family continued the practice of farming the land, selling the produce by roadside stand and at the Belleville and the Picton Farmer’s Markets. During the later years of the family’s ownership they began their organic growing practices and became certified organic growers in their final years of ownership.

In 2007, Cherryvale Organic Farm purchased the property from the Moore’s; we continue to maintain and improve the integrity of the land as certified organic.

Cherryvale Organic Farm intends to be the ‘farm of the future’: local, organic, sustainable. Our aim is to farm with the smallest possible ecological footprint in a world that must cope with climate change, peak oil, and scarce natural resources.
